HOW TO IMPORT USED CAR FROM JAPAN TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

It’s time for online car shopping!

Stock List

REGULATION

  • Individuals can import 1 vehicle every 3 years

  • Individuals must personally do everything without assistance from a Register Dealer.

  • Vehicle cannot be more than 4 years old.

  • Vehicle cannot have diesel engine.

  • Must have Deregistration Certificate.

  • Deregistration Certificate must have Engine and Chassis numbers that match the vehicle’s.

  • Deregistration Certifcate must have age by manufacturing date.

  • Deregistration Certificate must have mileage for vehicle imported for retail.

  • Must be structurely sound and meet enviornment standards.

  • Must have Ozone-Friendly AC.

  • Prior registration, vehicle must be roadworthy.

  • Dealers must put in government specified minimum Terms and Conditions into written sales agreement in the case of selling import.

  • All must have a Import License for Used Right Hand Drive Vehicles.

  • If you are importing commercial goods, you must hire a Customs Broker to fill out the required documentation.

  • Customs Declaration Form (C82 Form) x four copies

  • CARICOM Area Invoice(Provided by TokyoCarZ)

  • Supplier’s Invoice (Provided by TokyoCarZ)

  • Bill of Lading (Provided by TokyoCarZ)

  • Deregistration Certificate (Provided by TokyoCarZ)

  • Import License

  • Loose parts must be repaired, held or fix with a strong adhesive tape

  • T&T Passport, D.P., I.D. (For Personal Use) -or-

  • B.I.R. No. (For Trade)

Calculation Example

Let’s say you bought a car for ¥1,000,000 and want to ship to Auckland port, New Zealand.

Your invoice would look as follows:

Car price ¥ 2,000,000
Commission ¥ 140,000
Ro-Ro Freight ¥160,000
Marine Insurance ¥10,000
In Total ¥ 2,310,000

NOTE:- Freight cost NZD 1550 paid in New Zealand.

Other costs

Accident cars

For nonrunning car, none drivable cars 30,000 JPY – 70,000 JPY extra inland transportation cost may apply.

Negotiation fee

10,000 JPY; During the auction, a car may unsold. But there is still a chance to buy it via Negotiation. By the end of the actual auction day, we can apply for negotiation to any unsold car. No matter you BID on it or no.

Cancellation fee

80,000 JPY ( If you Won a car in the auction, you can cancel it within 1 hour); We CAN NOT cancel Cars bought via Negotiation or from Tender auctions!

Resell at the auction

Will cost about 150,000 JPY (auction fee, inland cost, paperwork, etc) depends on car condition, location, etc.

Late Payment

In 5 days after purchase you need to pay out the outstanding balance. 10,000 JPY will be charged weekly for late payment.

Lowered Down Cars

Cars with lowered suspensions, low height for e.g. sports cars etc. May be extra inland transportation charged.

Oversized vehicles

Trucks, Bus, etc. 30,000 JPY on top of FOB may apply.

De-Gas Certification

10,000 JPY

Asbestos Declaration

5000 JPY
